Speed breakers to be replaced by rumblers within a month on highways in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: In a view to reduce road mishaps in Odisha, a decision to replace speed breakers from national and state highways inside the State and replace them with rumblers within a month has been taken by the State Government on Tuesday.

Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi addressed the media after a discussion meeting on Tuesday and said that the objective of this meeting of Transport department was to take a decision to check and reduce the road mishaps in the State.

He said that the authorities of National Highway and works department have been directed to replace the speed breakers with rumblers within a month. Besides, they have also been asked to remove medians wherever these are put up without any need.

In case of speeding and overloading, the vehicle will be seized and the license of the driver will be cancelled, he further informed.

As per sources, a review meeting will be conducted after the implementation of these steps within a month, to review the situation that time.
