PURI: June 1: Three tonnes of stainless steel plates reached Puri for Jagamohan work at the Shree Jagannath Temple, recommended by the Archaeological Survey of India’s Technical committee and also experts from IIT, Madras.
“Three ton plates, which reached Puri today, are 20 feet long and five feet wide each which will be used in the mending of four columns of the prayer hall,” Executive engineer of Srimandira administration said.
Another 18 tonnes steel to be used in the repair work to be brought from Mumbai will reach Puri in the second week of June.
Notably, the Jagamohan core committee had planned to purchase 64 tonnes of steel to repair four beams and eight pillars but Director General of Archaeologist Survey of India rejected the estimated budget on May 5 at Delhi and formed another committee for survey including an expert from IIT, Madras.
The repair work of Jagamohan will begin after the deities are out of the ‘Anasara gruha’.
