Bhubaneswar, May 26: Bursting out in a press meet, the state BJP yesterday accused the ruling government for the frequent undeclared power cuts across Odisha. Though the govt had pledged to ensure uninterrupted power supply while reviewing the power scenario, it has failed upto it’s words. The national party also alleged that the government has failed to live upto its commitment of electrifying all villages by month of May.
Talking about electrifying villages, the BJP state secretary Kalandi Samal accused that, though the ruling party had announced of providing electricity to all villages by May, about 39 lakh house of about 1 crore are still starving for electricity. It had also promised of providing free power to the BPL, but still 40% of the BPL populations are still deprived of electricity, added Samal.
Though the state has also received an amount of Rs 2727 crore from the centre for electricity, still it is unable to provide sufficient power to the society.
The national party also questioned the ruling government, the reasons for delay in installation of the 500 new sub-stations, which is the main reason the state is suffering of shortage of power and low voltage?
In near past, about 27 MoUs have been signed for setting up of various IPPs, but however, work for 20 has not yet been started, while only 4 have been working at present.
