Bhubaneswar, Sept 12: After the high level meeting regarding the Mahanadi water issue that was held at the State Secretariat on Monday convened by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with ministers like Debi Mishra, Bikram Keshari Arukh, Usha Devi, Bijayshree Routray, in the presence of chief Secretary and other officials, Patnaik informed that the State is well prepared for the tripartite meeting to be held on September 17 in Delhi.
He also said that suggestions from intellectuals, other political parties and Social organizations in this matter are welcome.
It may be noted that after the spot inspection on the existing and upcoming project work in upper catchment areas of Mahanadi River by the Chhattisgarh government, BJD’s fact finding team submitted the report to the Chief Minister on Sunday.
Information related to the project construction work by the Chhattisgarh government under PPP mode, projects which are not under prior approval of the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF), non-consent of Odisha government on projects and hiding of information about ongoing projects by the Chhattisgarh government were included in the report.
Notably, September 17 is the date suggested by Naveen Patnaik for the proposed tripartite meeting.
