Students of Women’s college in Bolangir, Odisha deprived of appearing for plus II exams due to non-issuance of admit cards; stage protests and threat to mass self-immolation; probe ordered

Bolangiri, Mar 7: Today for being deprived from appearing in the plus II examinations here due to non-issuance of admit cards, 55 students of Asbag Women’s college at Kutrapali here protested out on the streets. The students were accompanied with their parents and guardians. As a result, transportation came to a standstill on the road connecting Kutrapali and Bolangir. Later, they also ransacked the college. The girls alleged that they had not been provided with the admit cards to sit for the examination. Lamenting that this carelessness on the part of the college authorities will severely hit their future prospects. Outraged by this, the students said that if the government fails to provide justice, they would resort to mass self-immolation. They further alleged that the college staff have been abscimaonded. In the meantime, reacting to this, the School and Mass Education minister, Debi Prasad Mishra ordered a probe into the incident. He informed the media that the CHSE chairman will investigate and action will be taken on receiving the inquiry report.
