September 2

The mystery behind Subhashree Mohapatra’s death is unraveling. On Tuesday night, the death of a 35-year-old woman was discovered in her home under unexplained circumstances.

Her body was found hanging in her home in Bhubaneswar’s Shastri Nagar. Someone later took the body and placed it on the bed. According to sources, the person responsible for keeping the deceased on the bed had fled the scene. Later, other neighbours noticed the body on the bed.

Subhashree Mohapatra died of asphyxia caused by hanging, according to the post-mortem report. The post-mortem report concluded that the woman committed suicide, ruling out any possibility of foul play. Previously, it was assumed that she was strangled to death due to slash marks on her neck.

Kharavela Nagar Police is questioning a male acquaintance of the deceased from Nayagarh. Subhashree is believed to have contacted the detainee several times before her death. Her final phone call lasted 27 seconds and was made 30 minutes before her death.

The deceased’s husband had filed a police report. Based on the complaint, Commissionerate Police have opened an investigation to determine whether it is a case of suicide or murder.
