Sundergarh: Two children were trampled to death by an elephant in Mundasahi of Kantapali village under Tamada forest range in Sundergarh on late Saturday night. According to sources, the two girls were sleeping along with their mother inside the house. The woman rushed out of the house after being aware of the elephants arrival and left the two girl children inside the house who were still sleeping.
The elephants destroyed the house and dragged the two girls out of the house after entering their abode and trampled them to death. The two children lost their lives at the spot. On being informed, the police and the forest department officials soon reached the spot.
Meanwhile, the death of the two children has left the villagers sad and angry which has created unrest in the area. The angry villagers has accused the forest deprtment for the deaths and claimed that such incidents happen due to the incompleteness of the forest official in controlling the elephants.
