Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: A modern polytechnic college is likely to come up in Sundargarh, Odisha as a memorandum on this has been signed between the State Government’s Skill Development and Technical Education Department and the NTPC in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Saturday.
As per the signed MoU, Rs 25 crore towards construction work of workshop, class room and libraries will be provided by the NTPC along with the necessary equipment.
With intake capacity of 60 students per branch, diploma in electrical engineering, mining engineering and instrumentation and controls engineering courses will be provided to the students.
The state has been providing utmost importance to skill development. Around eight lakh youth has been targeted to get skilled in the next three years and to make Odisha’s skill as a global brand, chief minister informed. Apart from this, efforts have been made to create more technical institutions by collaborating with industries, Patnaik further added. All efforts has been taken so that each district would get atleast one government polytechnic, he said.
