COVID Glooms Over Team SRH: T Natarajan & 6 Other Isolated

The corona epidemic has started looming over Phase-2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL-2021). Nearly 5 hours before the match against Delhi Capitals, news has come that Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler T Natarajan has become Corona positive. However, the BCCI has said that the match will be held on the pre-determined schedule. Apart from Hyderabad all-rounder Vijay Shankar, five coaching staff have been sent to isolation after Natarajan tested positive.

In May, the season had to be postponed after several players and support staff tested positive. After this, the board had decided to conduct phase-2 of the league in the UAE in September-October. Due to Corona, it was decided not to hold the T20 World Cup in India. This tournament will be held in UAE and Oman after IPL Phase-2.

In the first phase of IPL 2021, Amit Mishra, Wriddhiman Shaha, Varun Chakraborty, Sandeep Warrier, Nitish Rana, Devdutt Padikkal, Daniel Sams and Axar Patel were tested COVID positive. Apart from this, Chennai’s bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji, Chennai CEO Kashi Vishwanathan, Mumbai’s talent search officer Kiran More, DDCA groundman, Wankhede ground staff and IPL broadcast team were also infected.

T Natarajan had reached UAE on the 9th of September to attend the Hyderbad team training camp. That is, they are present there for 13 days. It is not yet clear when he turned positive.

Earlier, at the end of Phase-1, Delhi’s team was at number-1 position in the points table with 12 points from 8 matches. At the same time, Hyderabad’s team was in the last place with 2 points from 7 matches. In the first match of Phase-2, Chennai defeated Mumbai and snatched the first place from Delhi. Now Delhi has a chance to go to number-1 again. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad has high hopes from David Warner. Sunrisers Hyderabad has released a video on social media of Warner taking shots in practice a few hours before the match.
