Balangir, Oct 11: Tension gripped in Balangir district today as several tribals and non-tribals clashed over animal sacrifice at Mathakhai temple in the district.
After receiving the information, police rushed to the spot. However, as the police tried to take control over the situation, it resulted in a tussle between the police and the two groups in which a senior police official reportedly got injured.
After the arrival of Balangir SP and Collector at the spot, the puja and other rituals began.
Notably, to avoid any unwanted situation, police personnels were deployed in the area since Monday.
