Jagatsinghpur: May 09: A court in Jagatsinghpur convicted two persons in the sensational acid attack case on Pramodini Roul and sentenced them to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment besides a fine of Rs.15,000.
In April 18,2009, two accused Santosh Kumar Vedanta and Biswajit Dalsingh Rai, have attacked the victim Promodini Raul with acid.
As was alleged, Santosh Kumar Bedant, who was an army jawan, had thrown acid on the face of Promodini, for refusing his proposal. The acid attack had left Pramodini blind.
After 8 years’, Santosh Kumar Vedanta was arrested from Kolkata and Biswajit Dalsingh Ray from Balugaon.
In-between, Pramodini tied the knot with the love of her life, Saroj Kumar Sahu in 2021.
