Athagarh, Oct 27: In an unfortunate incident, a man named Tikama Sahoo of Sashanka village was squashed to death by a tusker near Baula Pahilabara road under Khuntuni forest range on Thursday morning.
As per sources, when Sahoo was on his way to open his shop at Baula square, the elephant dragged him with his trunk and squashed him to death.
After the incident, the irate locals blocked the road on National Highway-55 near Baula square and demanded compensation to the kin of the deceased.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and tried to quell the anger of the locals. However, till the last reports came in, the forest officials are yet to reach the spot to look into the matter.
