Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: IndiGo has decided to run two more flights, one flight each to Delhi and Kolkata from Biju Patnaik International Airport, with effect from September 12.
R Mahalingam, Airport Director, informed that with the addition of these two flights, IndiGo will have four flights connecting to Kolkata and five connecting to Delhi. These two new flights will help to boost domestic traffic in the current financial year. Few more proposals from small airlines are likely to be initiated by the end of 2016, he further added.
IndiGo also plans to start a flight from Bhubaneswar to Jaipur from October. A meeting related to this proposal was held with the airline. For this purpose, IndiGo has requested the civil aircraft manufacturer, Airbus to procure an aircraft, sources informed.
Presently, 22 domestic flights are running from the city airport. Air India has added a new direct flight to Varanasi.
