Bhubaneswar, Apr 4: It was a very happy moment for the forest officials of Odisha, yesterday, who finally removed the motor tyre that had been stuck in one of the legs of an elephant for over two months, at the Subhasi reserve forest. Tranquillising the jumbo, the officials took around 3 hours to move the tyre out of his leg.
Talking to the media, DFO Arun Swain said, “it was a very joyous moment for both, the elephant and us (forest department) as we have been trying to track him since 2 months, to remove the tyre from his leg, And today we have been successful. The Jumbo after getting removed with the tyre, ran into the jungles with joy in his voice,”.
As of a reason, of the tyre been stuck for months, there had been a small injury on his leg, which was also treated. The elephant had shown no anger reactions towards the department officials or the public, said sources.
