The University Grants Commission (UGC) warned prospective students not to enroll in two universities in Odisha because they are “fake.”
The Mahabharat Shiksha Parishad in Rourkela and the North Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology in the Mayurbhanj district town of Baripada were once again listed by the Ministry of Education’s statutory authority as bogus universities this year.
The UGC this year found 21 universities throughout the nation to be bogus, including these two educational institutions in Odisha.
Today, the University Grants Commission (UGC) declared 21 “self-styled” institutions to be fake and found two more to be breaking rules. On the UGC website, ugc.ac.in, you may find state-by-state information about fake universities.
Eight of these phony universities are located in Delhi, including the All India Institute of Public & Physical Health Sciences, Commercial University Ltd., United Nations University, Vocational University, ADR-Centric Juridical University, Indian Institution of Science and Engineering, Viswakarma Open University for Self-Employment and Adhyatmik Vishwavidyalaya (Spiritual University).
Uttar Pradesh has 4 such fake universities — Gandhi Hindi Vidyapith, National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (open university), and Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad.
In addition, West Bengal has two fake universities, whereas Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Maharashtra each have one.
“Students and Public at large are hereby informed that presently following 21 self-styled, unrecognized institutions which are functioning in contravention of the UGC Act, have been declared as fake universities and these are not empowered to confer any degree,” the official document reads.
