RSP to ensure success of Medical College, Super Speciality Hospital at IGH

Rourkela: May 24A High level meeting was held at Rourkela House regarding setting up of Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital at Ispat General Hospital of Rourkela Steel Plant on 23rd May. Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray discussed about the projects with RSP CEO Ashwini Kumar, Director In-charge (M&HS) and ED (P&A) PK Pradhan, Oram and Ray during the discussion emphasized expediting the projects. It is noteworthy that RSP is making all out efforts to make the project a success and implement it as soon as possible. M/s MediSys Project Consultant Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi has been appointed as Consultant and it has already submitted the feasibility report with various options. Accordingly a Board note has been initiated. After approval of the Board, DPR (Detail Project Report) shall be made by the consultant and Tender will be floated.  The Steel Plant is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the project reaches its fruition in the shortest possible time and the long felt need of the people of the region is fulfilled. Mr.Ashwini Kumar, CEO, RSP is continuously monitoring and reviewing the progress of the project and taking suitable action as and when required.

It may be mentioned that a Super speciality clinic was inaugurated on 9th April at IGH for which an MOU has been signed with none other than Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, a premier  chain of Hospitals in the country. As per the MOU Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad will be deputing Super Specialists in Nephrology and Oncology every 2nd Saturday and Specialists in Cardiology and Neurology every 4th Saturday of the month. The 1st visit was made by an eminent Cardiologist and a  Nephrologist on 9th April.   The visit schedule will be   communicated to the public through Press Releases and RSTV, the captive TV Channel of RSP. Appointment register will be kept in the Information counter of IGH and people desirous of taking appointment can contact  there.

It is also worth noting that IGH has set up an Eye bank in collaboration with Drishtidaan, a reputed NGO which is functioning very well. Soon cornea transplant facility will start at IGH. The project is on the verge of getting clearance  from the Government and once it is set up the Ophthalmology deptt. of IGH will become a state-of-the-art centre in eye care in Western Odisha. It may also be added that the Lab Services in IGH are continually getting strengthened. A case in point is the installation of immuno-analyser for high end investigations like tumour marker and hormone, drug  and vitamin analysis.     

It is noteworthy that Super speciality centres like Cardiology centre, Cancer centre, advanced Neurology and Nephrology centres with renal transplant facilities will be coming up as in-house facilities along with the Medical College. Plans have also been chalked out to equip all the  existing super speciality departments with state-of-the-art equipment.
