Bhubaneswar: June 01: Former central minister and senior congress leader Srikant Jena hit out at Modi government ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Odisha. He accused the BJP government of depriving the state of 1 lakh crore through reverse bidding of Mandakini Coal Block. In this context, he asked that, the people of Odisha should know in whose interest reverse bidding was followed instead of forward bidding as the state was a big loser in the process.
Jena also alleged that Modi government has not done a single contribution to the state since it came to power. Adding further, he said important projects approved during UPA government like a 700-crore super speciality hospital of AIIMs at Balasore is now in cold storage, which could have facilitated health services to citizens of Balasore, Mayurvanj, Bhadrak, Kendujhar including some areas of Kolkata. He asked the prime minister to answer when the Second Central University situated at Balasore can be started. Briefing to the media persons at a Press Conference yesterday, he said, UPA government has done many things for the state of Odisha like setting up CIPET, Software Technology Park and also Industries through NOCCI. Also he mentioned 360 crore spent by UPA government for the revival of NH-60 from Baleswar to Jaleswar.
Former Minister also alleged that, the CBI probe into the much discussed Chit Fund Scam of Odisha, in which several BJD Leaders are involved, became slow because of a ‘deal’ with the ruling party of the state.
