Bhubaneswar: June 08: Commissionerate Police arrested Seashore group chairman Prasant Das’s wife Jyotirani Sarangi on Tuesday in connection with a cheating case registered against her in Rourkela three years ago.
The police arrested Ms Jyotirani from Bhubaneswar’s Laxmisagar area. Police arrested her on the basis of a non-bailable warrant issued by the Sub-divisional magistrate (Rourkela). Police sources said Raghunathpalli Police in Rourkela registered a case against her in 2013 with a complaint by a duped chit fund investor. Recently, Police moved the Rourkela court and sought a non-bailable warrant to arrest her.
Notably, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had cross questioned Ms Jyotirani for hours suspecting her involvement in the multi crore chit fund scam on December 21, 2014.Jyotirani, a member of the board of directors of the seashore group was interrogated about the financial transaction and transfer of crore of amount to her personal account from company’s account by Crime Branch, sources said.
