Bhubaneswar: June 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated 100 new bridges under Biju Setu Yojana and 75 rural pipelines drinking water projects in Odisha in a meeting held at the Secretariat. Biju Setu Yojana was launched to connect far flung areas whereas 75 rural pipelines drinking water projects to provide safe drinking water in rural areas, sources said.
Speaking on the occasion CM expressed satisfaction in dedicating 100 Biju Setus and 75 pipelines for the service of people. Biju Setu Yojana will now provide connectivity to villages across the state. Under this project, 481 bridges have already been completed while work on 382 bridges is in progress. Also, he informed that, state government will construct another 153 and decision has been taken to do so.
Further he added, 100 Biju Setus will benefit 16 lakh people covering 345 panchayats. Similarly, the unveiling of 75 new pipelines will provide drinking water to 1.15 lakh people. Sources said, 10,418 drinking water projects have already been made functional till date.
