Union Minister of State for Agriculture arrived to review the farmers’ issue in Odisha:

Bhubaneswar: November 12:A high-level committee led by the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Gajendra Singh Shekhawat  today arrived at Bhubaneswar airport earlier to take stock of the drought situation and pest menace in Odisha. Speaking to the media persons, he said,’odisha Farmers are in trouble. Almost in fourteen districts of Odisha, drought like situation has been prevailing. It’s also reported that, in few places, disturbed over damages to crops due to pest attack, farmers have committed suicide. I have come here with the expert team to review the current scenario.’

Speaking on the opinion given by Dr.Damodar Rout, Minister of Agriculture, Government of Odisha, Mr.Sekhawat said, ‘That is his way of thinking. But, I have come here to review the situation with State Government’. Also, he added, ‘Centre is answerable to the people of the country irrespective any region, class or creed’. It is to be noted, Odisha agriculture minister Damodar Rout had recently accused BJP and its central leaders for intervening in the matters of the state.

State BJP Team also met Union Minister and presented a memorandum on farmers issue of the state.

Shekhawat is also scheduled to visit Boudh and Sonepur districts after holding discussion with officials of the Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) during his visit to the State.
