Villagers thrashed 4 Police personnel in Umerkote, Odisha

Umerkote: April 21: A group of people in Kalarasahi village of Jamarunda block under Umerkote police station in Nabarangpur district on Wednesday night attacked a Police Team, the moment Police raided a liquor trader of the Village.

A lady Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and three Odisha Armed Police Force (OAPF) personnel were injured on the attack.

Reports says, a team of Umerkote Police, led by lady ASI Jyoshnarani Behera had gone to Kalarasahi village on Wednesday night for an excise raid and during raid, a group of villagers attacked the cops with sticks, bricks and boulders. After getting information, additional force rushed to the spot and rescued the Police team and admitted them to hospital.

Police registered a case under section 147, 149, 341, 342, 294, 307, 354, 379 and 34 of the IPC, section 7 of Criminal Law Amendment Act and section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
