Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: Senior IPS officer and IGP (Railways), Vinaytosh Mishra, and Prasanna Kumar Dash, Inspector, CID Odisha, will be receiving the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the 70th Independence Day as per the announcement made by the Home ministry yesterday. 16 other Odisha Police personnel will receive the Police Medal for Gallantry and 11 personnel will receive Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The names of the personnel selected for the Police Medal for Gallantry are, Brijesh Kumar Rai, SP (1st BAR to PMG); Mitrabhanu Mohapatra, SP (2nd BAR to PMG); Chandra Sekhar Das, Sergeant; Rabindra Sabar, Sub Inspector; Samanta Durga, Constable; Lukesh Kumar Bhoi, Constable; Lalit Kumar Nayak, Constable; Balabhadra Majhi, Constable; Sahadeb Dora, Constable; Santosh Juang, Havildar (3rd BAR to PMG); Siva Shankar Nayak, Lance Naik (2nd BAR to PMG); Pabitra Mohan Nayak, Lance Naik (1st BAR to PMG); Trinath Totapadia, Lance Naik (2nd BAR to PMG); Santosh Juang, Havildar (4th BAR to PMG); Siva Shankar Nayak, Lance Naik (3rd BAR to PMG); Pabitra Mohan Nayak, Lance Naik (2nd BAR to PMG).
The 11 personnel selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service are, Ajit Kumar Dash, DSP (Handwriting), Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack; Sanjeeb Kumar Satapathy, Inspector, Kharavelnagar Police Station, Bhubaneswar; Biswanath Tarini, Inspector, Special Branch, Bhubaneswar; Miss Bhargabi Prusty, SI, Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack; Anjan Kumar Mishra, ASI, Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack; Bijaya Kumar Sahu, ASI, Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar; Chittaranjan Nayak, ASI, Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar; Bana Bihari Mohanty, Constable, PMT, Cuttack; Mohammed Matiur Rahman, Constable, Commissionerate Police HQ, Bhubaneswar; Gahiruddin Khan, Constable, DPO, Khurda, Sliverius Lakra, Sepoy, 7th Battalion, OSAP, Bhubaneswar.
For their profound contribution to Fire Services, three Home Guards from Odisha have been chosen for Police Medal for Meritorious Service. They are Abhiram Khuntia, Chandramani Patnaik and Bibhuti Bhusan Panda.
Talking to media persons, Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh said the award will boost the morale of the Odisha Police. He mentioned that there was a backlog of awards for the State Police personnel for the year 2013 and 2014 which the Home ministry has cleared this year. In his reaction, Malkangiri SP Mitrabhabu Mohapatra said the award given to him will be memorable.
