Violence mars students’ union elections in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 15: Violence in Ravenshaw University marred in an otherwise peaceful students’ union elections in Odisha.

It erupted in prestigious Ravenshaw University after the results were announced forcing university authorities to close the institution sine die.

The counting of the ballots were taken up immediately after the polling ended in the afternoon and by evening the victorious candidates and their supporters indulged in jubilation.

However, elections had been cancelled in 18 colleges including Utkal University due to violent incidents earlier.
