Bhubaneswar Nov 18: Two Odisha weightlifters – Pramila Kirsani and Minati Sethi – have failed dope tests conducted during Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship at Pune in Maharashtra.
Both the women weightlifters tested positive for stanozolol, the anabolic steroid.
The Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has suspended both Kirsani and Sethi and dropped them from the Indian team announced for the world championship.
Notably, Kirsani won silver in 53 kg category in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship whereas Sethi bagged bronze in 58 kg category in the event.
As per international rules, three positive results in a calendar year lead to a one-year ban.
