Will the Women of Afghanistan enjoy same human rights as other individuals?
Women’s rights were human rights. Women are entitled to enjoy the same human rights and fundamental freedoms as other individuals. But will the women of Afghanistan enjoy so? It is a big question now after Taliban got control of Afghanistan?Speaking to Media, Taliban’s Longtime Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid promised to honour women’s rights within the norms of Islamic law.

So, Taliban are portraying themselves as more moderate than earlier when they imposed a strict form of Islamic Rule in Afghanistan in the late 1990s.

But will it be true?

Are the Afghans believing the statements of Taliban on Women Rights?

Older Generations may not believe it? Because they have witnessed those days when women were confined to their homes. There was no Television…no Music.

In their earlier regime, women were denied employment and education. Also, they are forbidden to go out without a male guardian.

With this sort of old memory, can the women believe what the Taliban are saying today i.e., to respect women?

Some recent instances of Taliban’s actions and efforts to commit thousands of women to sexual slavery, speaks different what they have claimed ‘Will respect women’.

Speaking on the future of women in Afghanistan, an Afghan girl says,

“We don’t count because we’re from Afghanistan. We will die slowly in history’. My heart breaks for women in Afghanistan. The world has failed them. History will write this’.

As reported some stories in different media, Education for Girls may not be possible in Taliban’s administration.

But, this time, women in groups started protesting Taliban and demanding for women rights.

The first such protest was in Western Herat province. Dozens of women protested in the city and chatting ‘don’t afraid, don’t afraid, we are together’.

On Saturday Afghan Women march on roads of Kabul demanding equal rights for women from the new rulers.

Demonstrators laid a wreath outside Afghanistan’s Defense Ministry to honor Afghan soldiers who died fighting the Taliban before marching on to the presidential palace.

Protesters clearly said, “We are here to gain human rights in Afghanistan.’

Protesters also said, Taliban have promised more moderate form of Islamic rule than when they last ruled the country from 1996 to 2001. But many Afghans, especially women have doubts on the Statements made by Taliban’.

Near presidential palace, Taliban special forces fired on air to disperse the protesters.

So, if Taliban do not give justice to women, protests by women groups will go on against Taliban.

It is the time to see, whether the Taliban will listen to the voice of Afghan Women and make some changes in their attitude or not?
