Sonu Saini, age 32, has already served 18 months in prison, whereas his friend Gopal Saini, age 30, has served 9 months. In 2016, they were arrested and charged with murder. As alleged, Sonu Saini had killed his wife Aarti Devi.
They are now out of jail on bail.
Later, it was discovered that Aarti Devi is alive and residing in Rajasthan with her second husband.
According to police records, Aarti vanished from her rented home in Vrindavan in 2015.
A woman’s unidentified body, which the father claimed was that of his missing daughter, landed the suspects in jail.
The husband and his friend formerly worked at a neighbourhood restaurant. In 2016, they were charged with murder after the woman’s father filed a complaint at the Vrindavan police station.
The police officers investigating the case were awarded Rs 15,000 for apprehending the two suspects.
Now, six years later, Sonu and Gopal have located the “deceased woman” and informed the Mathura police.
The woman was detained on Sunday.
