Bhubaneswar: The introduction of Work passbooks will bring about transparency in works said PWD Minister. The Government of Odisha has taken this decision to bring about transparency in the public works.
The work passbooks is designed to record all the past and ongoing projects. It will be first implemented in the engineering department of the Public Work Department.
This was earmarked to document the project cost, estimate the amount of work completed and other important information. This will be available to the general public and they can access it from the website of the particular project.
The PWD also launched a dashboard which will have the details of all the projects. The Chief Minister, the departmental minister and the officials will monitor the works. The size of the project, the agency working and the state of the project should be regularly updated in the dashboard which can be monitored by the government.
In the first phase, work passbooks will be initiated in the PWD. Subsequently, Rural Development department, Department of Water Resources will also be brought under it. The government is expecting that unnecessary delays in the work can be avoided by this said Public Works Department Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
