Ulan-Ude (Russia): October 12: India’s MC Mary Kom suffered a loss in the World Women’s Boxing Championships in the semi-finals of the 51 kg weight category against Turkey’s Busenaz Cakiroglu. With this defeat, six-time world champion Mary had to be content with the bronze medal this time. Cakiroglu defeated the Indian player by 4–1. The Indian player started off strongly against the second seed Cakiroglu. In the first round, Mary tested her opponent’s move and took all her time. Mary did not get too aggressive and easily dodged Cakiroglu’s jab.
Marie took an attacking stance against the European champion in the second bout from the very beginning. He employed many jabs and hooks. The Indian player managed to take his opponent to the ring several times. The third round started well for Cakiroglu. He scored a number of important points with a strong jab and hook.
