Koraput, Apr 7: The Koraput police on Thursday arrested 4 persons in link with the suicide attempt case of the young couple of Koraput.
As of sources, the four arrested are the girl’s father, brother and two uncles.
Notably, a persecution video of the couple who had run away together from the G. Rautpur village under Dasmantpur block here, became public, after which the police started an investigation into the matter. The couple, who were in love, had fled from the village on Mar 19 as their families were against the relationship due to caste and age issue, returned to the village as husband and wife, three days later. Soon later, the family of the girl thrashed the duo mercilessly in front of the whole village and insulted them. Helpless, the couple attempt suicide by hanging themselves in their house on Mar 25. The girl was saved as her rope snapped but the boy died. Based on a complaint registered by the boy’s family, the cops had started investigating into the matter.
