Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: The Odisha police on Wednesday took a youth into custody on account of charges of cheating and raping a young woman on the pretext of marrying her.
Identified as Jayant Digal of Maitri Vihar under Chandrasekharpur PS, had matured a physical relation with the victim, while she was staying at his house for over a year. The accused had promised to marry her at a later period.
After the incident came into light, the accused tried to run after throwing her out of his house but was caught by the victim’s family members yesterday.
The woman raised a complaint and the accused was forwarded to the court, said sources
