Bhubaneswar, 8th Aug: On Monday, the total number of swine flu cases has increased to 46 with 12 patients admitted in various hospitals of Bhubaneswar and one from Cuttack tested positive. These twelve swab samples include five male and seven female samples from four districts across the State where eight belong to Khurda district, two from Cuttack, one from Sambalpur and one from Sundergarh district.
It may be noted that the flu claimed one life this year with 46 samples out of 206 tested positive till now.
To provide treatment to the H1N1 virus affected people, the State Government on August 6 issued a directive to the government and private hospitals to keep special ward ready.
A special advisory to set up separate screening facility or isolation wards with ventilator support for H1N1 cases had been issued to 15 private hospitals by the Public Health department. The advisory also stated that the facility should be handled by trained staff with proper infection control precaution.
