Kalahandi, Apr 5: Today a speeding tractor went over a 14-month-old baby at Ucchula village under Kegaan police limits here in Kalahandi. The name of the baby is Kabita Nag. She was playing on the road when this mishap occurred. Outraged locals of the village thrashed the driver and the helper of the tractor and locked them up in the panchayat office. On the other hand, the block development officer (BDO) assured the deceased’s family of providing Rs 5,000 as compensation from the district Red Cross fund. The police rescued the two accused and is interrogating them. They are identified as Rahul Mandal and Samar Viswas from Rajasthan who were working for a contractor in Chhattisgarh.
