Puri, Aug 27: Today the Puri district administration based on the suggestion provided by the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) began the process of sealing around 16 hotels, those which were running under violation on pollution control norms and sans requisite permissions.
Local Tehsildar, OSPCB Officer and environment scientists were present during the sealing process. Tourists had been asked to vacate the 16 hotels by Friday evening. Previously, closure notice were served to these hotels by the OSPCB because they had failed to submit replies to various findings of the board.
Notably, in April, 19 hotels, located near the Puri beach, were sealed by the local administration for operating without mandatory permission, from the Pollution Control Board.
