New Delhi, Jan. 22: Twenty-three places across India face a terror threat on January 23.
Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the Intelligence Bureau has issued specific alerts on the “imminent” threat to high value targets, including a major IT centre in Bengaluru, American Centre in Delhi, VHP HQ, Gujarat, a museum in Jaipur and Dakhsineswar Temple in Kolkata by terror groups.
Two targets, one each in Guwahati and Maharashtra, are yet to be decoded.
Bangladesh-based group Hijb-ut-Tahrir, with support from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Indian Mujahideen (IM), are planning to target 23 places on January 23 in the country. The terror groups plan to hit the targets through bomb attacks or suicide missions.
The input was received from a source of the agency on January 14 and was circulated to all the other security agencies after assessment.
The IB has also issued an alert suggesting presence of two more Pakistani terrorists reported to have been moving near village Pandher in Gurdaspur. “The terrorists are possibly armed and carrying rucksacks,” the alert said advising the security agencies to revisit security arrangements at vital /iconic locations with high footfall areas in the wake of Pathankot airbase terror attack and undertake preventive and precautionary measures.
“There has been specific intelligence input and assessment from Intelligence sources that JeM is planning fidayeen attack in the lines of repetition of a Pathankot-type incident which appears to be imminent,” read the alert circulated to various security agencies.
