245 dancers to participate in the international Odissi Festival

Bhubaneswar, Dec 25: The International Odissi Dance Festival would begin from Saturday at the Rabindra Mandap.

Around 245 Odissi dancers from various parts of the world would showcase their talent.

The five-day long festival, which would be hosted by the state culture and tourism departments, is being organised by the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre.

As many as 245 dancers, along with 200 musicians, would perform over five days. The festival would be conducted in two sessions every day, the first from 4 pm to 6 pm and the second from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Dancers from countries, including Italy, USA, Japan, Germany, Poland and Sri Lanka would participate in the venet, said Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre chief executive Jagannath Kunar in a press conference.

The festival was initiated in 2006 by the Odissi Research Centre to help dancers, trained under different gurus from different parts of the globe, to interact, improvise and learn from each other.
