25% hike in school teachers’ salary; compensation under social security scheme launched

Bhubaneswar, July 26: As per the grant-in-aid provision 2013, Odisha government has increased school teachers’ basic salary by 25%. Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister of School and Mass Education informed about it today.

The hike will be on the salary drawn as on May 31, 2016 and the increase rate of salary will be applicable retrospectively from June 1. A provision for annual increase by 3% in the basic salary has also been implemented by the State Government. By this increment, upper primary schools teachers, high schools, Sanskrit toll schools teachers and madrasas would be benefited.

A social security scheme, in which teachers would get Rs 2 lakh compensation in case of death during service, and Rs 1.5 lakh compensation in case of disability, has also been launched by the state government.
