BBSY, financial assistance for senior weavers’ scheme launched by CM

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: Committing support to the livelihood of the weavers and  to facilitate financial aid to senior and skilled weavers of Odisha, the new scheme “Barishta Bunakara Sahayata Yojana’’ had been launched by the  chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday, at state level function at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.  

As per the new scheme, Rs 500 as monthly financial aid would be provided to those weavers who are over 60 years of age and having 20 years of work experience, and Rs 700 for those who are above 80 years of age having 20 years of experience, CM informed while announcing the scheme and the aided amount would be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account.

Several welfare schemes like houses, solar lantern and handloom equipment has been initiated by the government and insurance scheme for the weavers have also been announced for them, Patnaik pointed out.

By complimenting, Patnaik said that the unique tradition of Odisha, Handloom will able to get a vertical growth in future by state government’s cooperation.

Further, the Textile Inspectors and field staff under the assistance director of textile would visit each weaver’s family and ascertain their needs to improve their livelihood and for this a specific survey would be conducted to know their problems, Snehangiri Chhuria, Minister of Textile and Handloom informed.
