Mahanadi Issue: Chief Ministerial level meeting scheduled on September 17

Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: To discuss on the controversial topic of dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh over Mahanadi, the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik proposed the Union Resources Water Ministry for Chief Ministerial level meeting between the two States on September 17.

The Odisha government has convened a preparatory meeting on September 12 before the proposed CM-level meeting, to take a decision on the contention it would place before the Chhattisgarh chief minister at the meeting on September 17 in New Delhi, which would be presided over by Uma Bharti, Union Water Resources minister.

Notably, by assuring no injustice on the Mahanadi dispute, Uma Bharti had earlier written a letter to the Odisha CM asking him to come as per his suitability between September 10 and 20 and had also informed that she would also ask the Chhattisgarh CM to come on the same date to discuss and resolve the matter.

Uma Bharti had been informed for her intervention in this matter to protect the interest of Odisha’s people.
