Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: Yesterday, the Civil court (Senior Division) here lifted the restriction which it had imposed on the telecast of a sex video tape allegedly showing City Mayor, Ananta Narayan Jena in a compromising position with a woman. The court, in its order has also asked Student Congress president, Itish Pradhan to not make any defamatory statements against Jena without possessing any ‘proof.’ The court cited that it failed to find any ‘justifiable reason’, as mentioned by the Mayor in his petition regarding the prohibition from telecasting the video.

Notably, on Dec 17, the Court has restricted the telecast of the sex clip which had been uploaded by a web portal and later brought to the media’s notice by Pradhan. The video raised a storm with Opposition parties demanding the resignation of Jena from his post and the party. On a later date, the court is said to hear the defamation petition filed by Jena against Pradhan and the portal’s proprietor, Pradeep Pandey, for maligning his reputation.
