Odisha petrol pumps and gas agencies continue to be raided by Vigilance officials

Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: The Vigilance officials continued to conduct raid on various petrol stations and gas agencies yesterday over the reported theft and adulteration. The raids were conducted on 9 gas agencies across 6 districts of Odisha. It’s stated that the officials examined the stocks at various stations. Gas agencies in Puri, Khurda, Angul, Jajpur and Berhampur  were raided. A maximum of 3 agencies were raided in Khurda. Periodical enforcement is being done by officials at a district level. Cases have been lodged based on various sections of the Legal Metrology Act. In many cases, petrol stations are found supplying fuel without required verification and there are also instances of short delivery, and discrepancies in measurement. In case of gas agencies, the weights being delivered and the quality of fuel being sold are scrutinized. All this was informed to the media by the Director of Food Supply and Consumer Welfare department, Anant Kumar Bhuyan. On Saturday, similar raids were conducted across Odisha.
