New Delhi, Jan 31: Shri Amulya Kumar Patnaik, (AGMUT: 1985), the senior Odia IPS officer of Assam–Meghalaya, Manipur–Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram–Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre has been appointed to the post of Commissioner of Police, Delhi from the date of actual assumption of the charge, in place of Shri Alok Kumar, IPS (AGMUT: 1979) who has been appointed as Director, CBI, till further orders. With this, Patnatik has become the first Odia IPS officer to be tipped for this key post. The 1985 batch IPS officer and presently posted as Delhi Police Special Commissioner (administration), Patnaik will replace will replace Alok Verma, who has been named as the director of CBI.
