Post-poll Violence in parts of Odisha: Death toll increase along with the number of injured

Bhubaneswar, Feb 22: After the record of poll violence during the elections, a number of poll violence activities have yet been reported just after the end of the final phase of the three-tier panchayat election. Zones like Cuttack, Jajpur, Khurda and Kendrapada are the most violence erupting areas.

A recent group clash in Kachara Sahi in Jajpur reported a death of one person identified as Kalandi Roul, which was an outcome of the violent fight that took place between two families.

In another case, four persons were injured, and one in critical condition, after group between two teams too place at Bantala village in Jajpur.

In khurda, about 12 houses, 5 shops, one SUV, 5 auto-rickshaws and 6 bikes were damaged during an alleged group clash between BJD and BJP supporters in jaganathpur area after which two platoons of police have been deployed in the area to restore peace.

In kendrapada, some unknown miscreants attacked BJP district secretary Mamata Samal, which is said to be an outcome of political enmity.

In Cuttack, at Pokrari GP, locals protested demanding immediate arrest of ballot box looters.
