Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: Today at the State Assembly, the Annual Budget 2017-18 was suppose to be presented but the house witnessed disturbance when the Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra demanded censure motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for commenting on poverty in Odisha thus alleging that the comments were passed against the poor. During the Question Hour, the session was being conducted smoothly but at the beginning of the Zero Hour both the BJD and Congress legislators caused a turmoil in the house following which the Speaker Niranjan Pujari had to adjourn the house proceedings till 3pm.
Mishra against Modi uncovered the fact that if Modi got to know about Odisha’s poverty after three years then how come the state has been neglected from special status tag, why were the developmental projects stopped and funds sponsored for the 33 centrally sponsored projects were curtailed. Along with Mishra, BJD legislator and Minister Sanjay Das Burma questioned the same.
On the other hand, BJP leader Pradip Purohit accusing both parties stated that the petty issue is being given unncessary importance, the sole reason being to gain political mileage and an attempt to taint the prime minister’s image.
