Berhampur: Four doctors of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital were terminated from service on disciplinary ground. The decision has been taken following the College Council meeting held on December 23rd and the direction received from the DMET, Odisha.
The terminated doctors are — Assistant Professor Dr. Prushottam Swain (contractual), Senior Resident Doctors Dr. Aryan Kumar Mohanty and Dr. Chinmay Pradhan of Orthopedics department (both contractual) and Senior Resident Doctor Dr. Jashobant Veera of General Surgery department at the MKCG Medical College & Hospital. Besides, a 2nd year PG student namely Dr. Priyajeet Sahoo of Orthopedics department was debarred from the hostel for a period of six months.
According to reports, Dr. V Rajanikant, a post-graduate student of Paediatrics department, was assaulted by group of senior doctors at the PG hostel premises on December 21. Later, a complaint was lodged at the Baidyanathpur Police Station in this matter. Today’s action has been taken in response to this assault case.
