405 incidents of cross border firing in J&K in 2015

New Delhi, Mar 16: As many as 405 incidents of cross border firing have taken place along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2015 killing 16 civilians. Minister of State for Home Haribhai Chaudhary said in Rajya Sabha that 253 incidents of cross border firing have taken place along the International Border and 152 incidents along the Line of Control. Altogether 16 civilians were killed, 71 others were injured and 72 houses were damaged due to border shelling along the border last year.

As many as 7,110 people (up to November 2015) were temporarily affected due to ceasefire violation in Jammu and Kashmir, he said replying to a written question. “Diplomatically, India has repeatedly emphasised, including at the highest level, the need for Pakistan to uphold the sanctity of the Line of Control and abide by the ceasefire commitment of 2003 along the International Border and LC,” he said.
