Bhubaneswar, Mar 27: Being in the world for ages, as a part of the human culture, ‘theatre’ has today evolved a wide range of different theories and practices. Theatre today is believed to be an art-form that is autonomous from literature and one in which the playwright’s contribution should be respected as that of only one of an ensemble of creative artists, who actually believe in a consistent feature called ‘Improvisation’.
The 4th National Theatre Festival, the AJIT Natya Mahotsav 2017 has already kicked off at Bhubaneswar with its launching ceremony in the capital today. This year’s festival which will be more and more dedicated to one of the most noted theatre artiste and director of Odisha Asim Basu, is inviting plays like Budha Sankhari (Odia) (to be played on 28th of March), Bishadkal (Bengali) (to be played on 29th March) and Hindi play Saray on the 30th.
AJIT: Abhinaya Jagruti Institute of Theatre is a theatre group recognised by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, which was founded in 2001 by noted artiste, Shri Ajit Narayan Das, an NSDian and retired HOD of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. The group is noted for its noted theatre workshops, seminars and exhibitions etc… In the recent years many eminent theatre groups, theatre artists and personalities of India have participated in the festival and have performed well before the Bhubaneswar audiences, and this has given a golden advantage to the state of getting exposed at the National level theatre shows.
