Bargarh, Nov 2: Five councilors of the Bargarh municipality named Ajit Seth, Sashi Agarwal, Naren Pradhan, Basudev Bagarti and Badmati Pradhan resigned from their posts on Tuesday due to the change in venue of the famous Dhanu Yatra. Badmati Pradhan said that the councilors are quite sad due to the change in the venue of the Yatra by the district administration.
Besides, five more members of the Dhanu Yatra organizing committee resigned protesting the change in the venue.
As per Bargarh Collector, Anjan Kumar Mallick, the reason to change the venue is that a cultural program should be carried out at a free and safe place with proper fire security. He said that the administration is not trying to hurt the sentiments or cause any harm to the culture and tradition.
