7 surrender in Kollam temple fire tragedy

Thiruvanthapuram, April 12: Seven temple authorities have surrendered in connection with the Kollam fire tragedy. According to reports at least 1000 have been injured.

A devastating fire had engulfed the 100-year-old Puttingal Devi Temple complex in Kollam during an unauthorised display of fireworks on Sunday, leaving 109 dead. Subsequently, while there was a clamor for total ban on the pyrotechnic display, Travancore Devaswom Board and Kerala CM Oommen Chandy opposed the total ban calling it a part or tradition.
