State committed to make Odisha preferred IT destination: CM

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: The State government is committed to make Odisha a preferred Information Technology (IT) destination with a slew of attractive fiscal incentives and concessions for firms, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Speaking at Infocom-Advantage Odisha 2016 here on Friday Patnaik said the growth rate of IT exports from the State is more than the National growth rate for last several years.

“Every department of the State government has been directed o spend two percent of their plan budget for electronic enabled service delivery”, he added.

The Chief Minister said the State government has brought out a new Industry friendly ICT policy and Industrial Policy Resolution-2015.

He said State capital Bhubaneswar has made good progress in IT SEZ sector.

“In order to promote such Industries, IT Special Economic Zones are established at Infocity and Infovalley in Bhubaneswar”, stated Patnaik.

He added that the State government is also setting up a Green Field Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Infovalley.

“Odisha is the first State in the country which has signed an MoU with TiE, Silicon Valley, USA to attract foreign investment under IT and ESDM sector”, said the Chief Minister, adding the TiE Silicon valley is mentoring a 4.5 lakh square foot start-up hub in Bhubaneswar which was dedicated recently at Mumbai Invest Odisha initiative.

“Odisha now boasts of excellent eco-system for the technology industry and is ready to absorb large investments in technology sector”, he stated.

Patnaik said a number of e-Governance initiatives have been taken up by various departments in the last decade.

“The State government is also focusing on providing end-to-end dedicated government network from State to gram panchayat level offering high speed Broadband Internet Services”, he stated, adding in order to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the State closer to their home towns, the State government is also bringing out a BPO scheme in all the STPI locations of the State.
