BJD, BJP delegations meets PM, Culture Minister

Bhubaneswar, March 17: BJP and BJD delegations Wednesday met prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma to seek their intervention in the restoration of Jagamohan in Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

A BJP delegation led by senior party leader Bijay Mohapatra called on Modi at his office in New Delhi and requested him to issue directives for early restoration of the structure in Puri Jagannath Temple.

The Prime Minister is understood to have assured that his office will supervise the restoration works.

Senior party leader Dilip Ray demanded Bharat Ratna for Odisha’s legendary leader Biju Patnaik.

Former State unit president KV Sigh Deo and former MP Sangita Singh Deo were also in the delegation.

Meanwhile a delegation of BJD MP’s met Union Culture Minister to discuss the restoration work.

Three MPs of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-Bhartruhari Mahtab, Prabhas Kumar Singh and Pinaki Mishra- met the Minister and requested on giving special attention to the conservation of old monuments.
Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan and Director General of Archaeological Survey of India were also present during the discussion.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written a letter to Sharma for sending the best technical experts to oversee the repair and restoration of the Jagmohan in the shrine.
